A headphone cushion is a soft pad (usually made of foam) that covers each ear's speaker box. These cushions help provide comfort for prolonged wear, reduce outside noise, and help grip the head to prevent the headset from sliding around.

The headband is a stiff piece of plastic, usually with a cushion that passes through the top of the head to hold the headset's speaker in place.

For Wired Headphones, a cable is a long wire that runs from one side of the headset to a computer or other device. This cable transfers audio from the computer to the headset speakers. Cable connectors are mini plugs or USB.
