How to connect a headset to a computer?
Computer headsets or earphones usually have one of two types of connectors: mini plug or USB. Both connections are suitable for headphones, but one is analog and the other is digital. Bluetooth allows the headset to connect without using a cable. However, the battery life of these headphones is limited.
The following are instructions for connecting each type of headset to the computer.
USB headset
If your headphones come with a USB connector, please find an unused USB port on your computer. Insert the HEADSET USB connector into the USB port. Your computer should recognize and configure the headset for use and may display a notification message in the lower right corner when it is ready.
Mini-plug headset
To connect Mini Plug headphones, headphones, or other devices, find the Mini Plug hole on the front or side of the sound card or computer. If you have a laptop, the connection may be a brass 3.5mm jack located on the side or front.
Once these holes are positioned, the plug can be inserted effortlessly.
If your computer has multiple Mini Plug holes (as shown), you need to determine which hole is used for what device. To help with this process, the mini plug hole is usually color-coded or has a symbol next to it to indicate the device. For headphones, for example, the sound output or line output is shaded green and has an arrow pointing out of the wave.
If you are connecting headphones, it will have two mini plugs because it has a microphone in addition to the speaker. The headset is connected to the sound output port (as described above) and the microphone is connected to the sound input or line input port. The sound of the harbor is usually a shade of blue, with arrows pointing towards the waves.
