All the dudes and dudettes are wearing wired headphone earbud, at least according to Generation Z, the leaders of the new decade. Or so says the fast-growing Instagram account wired It Girls.
As The Wall Street Journal's Rory Satran recently reported, everyone from Bella Hadid to Lily-Rose -(Lily-Rose Depp), everyone has been spotted not for AirPods, but for headphones of the past. While this trend spans Gen Z and Millennials, Gen Z is leading the way in re-plugging headphones.
Launched last October, Connect It Girls is a carefully curated website that showcases women from around the world (plus a lone Jake Gyllenhaal [Jake Gyllenhaal]) proudly wearing wired headphone best. In some of the photos, the subjects are looking into the camera, others are sneak peeks, or paparazzi shots taken while they are out and about or walking around. Anyway, the point of this account is very clear:Forget wireless, retro technology is very popular right now.
The wired headphone earbud trend may still be new to the uninitiated, but Shelby Hull, founder of wired It Girls, tells Teen Vogue magazine that she's actually been following the trend for some time. "In 2019, I read an article by Liana Satenstein in Vogue that said Bella Hadid 'brought back the plain wired headphones.' " She captured the blurry IG stories and hot girl Twitter selfies I'd seen online," Hull recalls. "From then on, I couldn't help but notice all those hot girls still working for cable."
If you want to be a cool kid, whether you're on a tight budget or just want to let your subway mates know you're hip, a pair of budget wired headphone for under $3 is great.
